John qualified from the Royal London Hospital in 1983 and practised in General Practice before joining HDS in 1992.
John derives great satisfaction from treating his patients regularly over many years and getting to know several generations of the same family. He attends regular clinical courses and meetings. John has a special interest in restorative and cosmetic treatments. He has completed a year-long course in Advanced Aesthetic dentistry. He uses high-level magnification and illumination to deliver precision dentistry. He undertakes complex restorative cases, implant supported prosthetics and implant surgery.
John loves being a lead member of an exceptional clinical and administrative team. He has close and long-standing affiliations with the most respected specialist clinicians. John takes great care in treatment planning, explanation, communication and patients’ informed choice. He is experienced in sedation techniques and facial aesthetic procedures.
Outside of work, John enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle with many recreational pursuits.
Dr Carita Wegner – HLL Turku 1998

Carita qualified from University of Turku, Finland in 1998, and has been practising dentistry since, first in Finland and then in Devon before joining HDS in 2001. She is dedicated to providing high quality care in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. She uses The Wand, a computer-controlled device for giving local anaesthetic, which has helped many patients with their anxiety of dental injections.
Carita regularly attends dental courses to keep up to date, has completed year-long courses in Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry and gained Certificate in Restorative Dentistry (Eastman). Also, she holds MSc in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition (UCL) and is currently studying part time for MSc in Psychology.
In her free time, Carita enjoys pounding the pavements and trails in various locations around the world and has taken part in many full and half marathons and now “ultras” since taking up running in 2011.
Dr Maya Dam BDS (Birm) MJDF RCS Eng

Maya qualified from the University of Birmingham 2009. She is broadly experienced in all aspects of General Dentistry, with a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry. She is committed to providing the highest level of dental care through post-graduate education, and is passionate about keeping up to date with the latest techniques in dentistry.
In 2012, Maya completed a year-long advanced restorative dental course taught by the highly regarded Dr Paul Tipton. This is in addition to completing the MJDF examinations from the Royal College of Surgeons. Currently Maya is taking a Masters in Restorative Dentistry at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute.
Maya takes pride in her ability to make people feel relaxed and at ease so that patient’s experience at Hockley Dental Surgery is a pleasant one.
Outside of work Maya is a keen on trekking, having completed the 3 peaks England, Scotland and Wales. She enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures and is also fond of live music, regularly attending Glastonbury festival.
