Some patients elect to have treatments carried out under sedation. This might enable treatment to be successfully completed where otherwise it would not have been achievable. In some cases just certain elements of a patient’s treatment might be done under these conditions. It is common for patients who initially attend HDS for sedation dentistry to gain in confidence sufficiently to gradually move over to conventional local anaesthetic measures when they are ready.
At HDS, we are fully equipped and highly experienced in the techniques of conscious sedation. This enables treatment of nervous patients who might otherwise avoid the dentist as well as facilitating some of the more advanced procedures for some individuals. Surgery and implant placement are often done under sedation as well as more routine treatments for nervous patients.
We have full monitoring equipment and recovery facilities. The dentists and nurses have very many years of experience in managing patient treatments under conscious IV sedation, and they undertake updates and re-training periodically.
